♪ Look what I got! ♪

WOOHOO! New art book swag!
My birthday/Christmas presents to myself arrived yesterday! While I've never seen 'Puss in Boots', I had seen 'Wreck-It Ralph' in the cinemas last year and I loved that film to bits! Loved it! Puss in Boots' character in the Shrek films won my heart instantly, so 'The Art of Puss in Boots' was quick to land on my wish list - and now they're both home! *happy dance* I haven't even taken 'The Art of Wreck-It Ralph' out of its shrink-wrap yet. ^_^;

Happy Birthday and Merry Early Christmas to ME!

Random Sketches - Some People

Did some warm-up sketches over the past week and a half, and this is what I have to show for it. Not much, but I'm pretty busy with client projects AND I start a new Day Job next week. Wish me luck, please!

Fan Art Friday - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

A lightening storm killed my modem last week, so I wasn't able to post anything at all for Friday. I'm still busy with a client's project, so here's a hodgepodge of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic character sketches (Pinkie Pie, Twilight Sparkle, and Rainbow Dash) for this week! These were done at various points over the past seven months as warm-up or procrastination sketches. Yes, procrastination sketches - they do exist.

Hope you'll enjoy, and see you again next week (unless another lightening storm decides to visit O_O)!

Warm-Up - Getting Crafty With It

Some people do warm-up sketches before they get down to work. What did I do?

Make folders.

I had a package of scarcely-used thick black cartridge paper just sitting around since my Final Year Project, begging for me to do something with it, so I made some 'manila' folders. It beats buying them in the stores, and it gives me another creative outlet. They're not the straightest folders out there, but they get the job done.

Heya, people! So, it's now crunch time with barely a few precious weeks left until D-Day/Exam Day. Man, time sure does fly.

In this week's update, I'm going to show you the work-in-progress poster illustrations as well as the progress I've made with working on the furniture.

Final Year Project - Children's Furniture

In previous posts (FYP - Children's Furniture: Chair Designs, and FYP - Furniture Design Sketches, and Final Illustrations) , I've mentioned that I wanted to design a children's furniture set as part of the merchandise tying into my book project. After a search for a skilled joiner to bring it from paper to reality, I have these photos to show you!

These are the raw, just-delivered furniture pieces. Shortly after these were photographed, I bought the necessary supplies to turn them into my character pieces - including wood putty for some imperfections in the wood. Right now, I'm letting the putty cure before I sand, clean, and prime these pieces for painting. Anyway, on to the photos!
